Education Minor![](images/arrow.gif)
The education minor consists of 20 credits in Education Department courses. A methods course taught in another department may be counted toward four of these 20 credits (e.g., ARTS 791 or 792, ENGL 792, MATH 708,709, etc.).
Courses used toward a minor in special education cannot be used toward a minor in education.
The following courses are strongly recommended (not required) for students interested in elementary or secondary education
**EDUC 500, Exploring Teaching EDUC 700, Educational Structure and Change EDUC 701, Human Development and Learning: Educational Psychology EDUC 703, Alternative Teaching Models (Methods Course) EDUC 705, Alternative Perspectives on the Nature of Education |
The following courses are strongly recommended (not required) for students interested in early childhood education
**EDUC 500, Exploring Teaching EDUC 701, Human Development and Learning: Educational Psychology EDUC 734, Children’s Literature EDUC 756, Supporting Families of Individuals with Exceptionalities EDUC 760, Introduction to Young Children with Special Needs |
** EDUC 500 can only be counted once (four credits) toward the minor.
** No more than two transferred courses in education or a closely-related area from another college or university may be used toward a minor in education. A three-credit course transferred from another school will count for three credits at UNH, not four credits.
