More than one hundred first-year college chemistry students provided a detailed retrospective of the learning environment in their high school chemistry courses. There are messages here about what enhances and undercuts learning, both in terms of curriculum and personnel.

Christopher F. Bauer

Christopher Bauer, Ph.D., Colorado State U., is professor and chair of the chemistry department at the University of New Hampshire. His research focuses on the teaching of chemistry. He won the UNH Jean Brierly Teaching Award in 1991.
