Program Description:

This presentation can address royal government, power, and administration in the age of Edward I of England (1272-1037), i. e. the bad guy in "Braveheart", royal government, power, and administration in the era of the Ottonian kings of Germany, i. e. the "First Reich" in the tenth and eleventh centuries, and in the economic history of thirteenth century England, especially the role played by war and the government in affecting the economy.

David S. Bachrach

David Bachrach is an assistant professor of Medieval History at the University of New Hampshire. He is a specialist in religious, military, and political history of medieval Europe, with a particular focus on England and Germany. He has published 7 books and 40 scholarly articles on a wide range of topics.
