Birds of Dixville Notch

 

Program Description:

This is a powerpoint slideshow presentation of the birds of the Dixville Notch region. Hale has done some bird surveys on the trails in the region, including on the ridges up and over Sanguinary Mtn. and Dixville Peak. The slide show will include birds likely to be encountered by during all four seasons of the year, and from the valley to the mountain tops. The presentation includes some audio of bird songs and calls, so that the audience can learn to identify some species by their species-specific vocalizations.

Stephen Hale, Ph.D., U. of New Hampshire, is a research associate at the Joan and James Leitzel Center for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Education at the University of New Hampshire. His research interests include climate change and vertebrate distribution modeling and mapping using satellite remote sensing and geographic information systems.
