Mary Malone

Mary Malone is an associate professor in the department of political science at the University of New Hampshire where she teaches classes on democratization, comparative politics, and Latin American politics. Her research focuses on the current crime epidemic in Latin America, and its implications for democratic governance. Prof. Malone is particularly interested in how crime shapes the political attitudes of average people, and examines the linkages between crime and support for official abuses of power, vigilante justice, and militarized crime control policies. Prof. Malone also studies the privatization of security in the region.
