The Changing Faces of New Hampshire: Demographic Trends in the Granite State
While NH's 6.5 percent population gain since 2000 is modest compared to that of faster growing states in the West and South, it is nearly double other Northeastern states. However, the current recession has slowed NH's growth, forcing policy makers to again face the perennial quandary about the state's future demographics. In particular, they are concerned about two issues. First, are we an old state? Second, are young adults leaving the Granite State?
