Once a powerhouse in the textile industry, the Queen City has reinvented itself into a hub for entertainment, education, arts and culture. We've compiled a list of some of the events, activities and global foods that students can experience in the Manchester area.

Free Things to do
  • Visit the Currier Museum of Art for free with a student ID.
  • Enjoy a hike on one of the area's many recreational trails.
  • Visit Rock Rimmon Park to take in a view of the entire city.
  • Settle down with a good book at the Manchester City Library, which is free with your student ID if you live or go to school in Manchester.
  • Explore all the shops on Elm Street or at the Mall of New Hampshire—window shopping is always free!
Things to do in the $5 range
  • Go dancing for $5 at Mill City Contra Dance.
  • Explore the city's history at the Millyard Museum. Admission is $6 for students.
  • Enjoy half-priced appetizers and drafts during college night at Murphy's Taproom.

  • Go skiing, snowboarding or tubing with student discounts at Black Mountain Resort or McIntyre Ski Area.
  • Cheer on the Manchester Monarchs hockey team.
  • Rent a kayak and paddle around Massabesic Lake.
  • Catch the Boston Express bus ($22 round-trip) and spend a day exploring Massachusetts' capital. Free activities include walking the Freedom Trail, exploring Boston Common, strolling through Public Garden or visiting the Museum of Fine Arts (free with your student ID). Your student ID also gets you discounted admission into the New England Aquarium.
