Chuck Zercher has been named interim dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, effective June 4. Zercher will serve in this role while Wayne Jones serves as interim provost.

“Chuck’s experiences as a faculty member, department chair and multiple roles in the CEPS deans office and across campus make him an ideal leader for this role,” Jones said in a note to CEPS faculty and staff.

“This is a wonderful team to lead and represent CEPS.”

Mathematics professor Sharon McCrone will serve as interim associate dean for academic affairs, while Brad Kinsey will become faculty fellow for research and graduate studies.

“Having previously served in this role, and building on her experience in mathematics education and her recent collaborative success with NSF education grant funding, (McCrone) will be a great addition to the CEPS team,” Jones said.

Jones noted that Kinsey “will bring an engineering perspective to the deans’ suite and will lead the implementation of the CEPS Graduate Growth Initiative task force report completed at the end of the spring 2018 semester.” Kinsey will continue to serve as department chair.

“This is a wonderful team to lead and represent CEPS as we continue to build on our efforts to focus on student success, build interdisciplinary research and grow our partnerships with industry,” Jones said.
