Using the Arts in AIDS Education
HIV/AIDS is the primary cause of death and hospitalization in the African nation of Namibia and the nation is
one of the top five HIV/AIDS-affected countries in the world.*
With a grant from the Hamel Center’s International Research Opportunities Program (IROP), nursing major Talia Connery spent her summer in Namibia. There, she used the arts to help educate citizens about AIDS prevention.
