The Transportation Services Department hosts National Safety Council Defensive Driving Courses for members of the UNH Community, and the general public. DDC certification is required to operate University vehicles and rental vehicles for University purposes. You may also take the course for personal reasons (point reduction, etc.) The course consists of lecture, video, and discussion; there is no driving included in this 6-hour course.
Transportation Services is pleased to announce that they now have two options in taking
Defensive Driving for an UNH purpose! Individuals can take the
traditional class room class which is offered on Saturday's only OR
they can now take the class on-line.
You may sign up for either classroom or on-line via the
Registration link located below in the Registration section.
DDC course classes will be held at Horton Hall. There is no parking permit requirement in
faculty/staff or commuter lots on a weekend. However permit requirements in resident lots and specially-reserved
spaces (handicap, service, etc.) remain in effect.
Please note that locations are subject to change without notice. For up to the date location, please check
the schedule page and/or call 603-862-2328.
8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Attendees should arrive by 8:20, and ready to begin the class at 8:30. It is strongly recommended to bring a bag lunch.
All prospective attendees must pre-register due to limited seating available. Call 862-2328 to register. If you are a UNH affiliate with an Encumbrance number, you may use the DDC signup form.
The fee for a UNH-affiliate taking the class for a UNH purpose is $30.00. All other purposes, or non-affiliates will pay $50.00.
Registrants from UNH departments must have an encumbrance number, cash, or check when signing up for the class. A seat will not
be reserved without payment. Send payments to Beverly Cray at the Wildcat Transit Office in the Visitors Information Center.
Encumbrance numbers should be made out to Transportation Services, and checks to UNH. Both checks or encumbrance numbers should
bear the name of the individual taking the class. Any cash or check payments made for UNH-affiliates for UNH purposes must be
accompanied by a departmental letter (on letterhead) stating the UNH reason for taking the class. UNH-affiliates taking the class
for UNH-purposes may pay with cash.
Registrants who are taking the class for personal reasons may only pay by check or money order (made out to "Safety & Health
Council of Northern New England"). Credit card pre-payments are also accepted by calling the Safety Council at 603-228-1401. Cash is
not accepted.
A full refund will be offered to anyone canceling more than 48 before the class. A $15 fee is assessed to anyone canceling between 12 and 48 hours before the class. There is no refund for anyone who cancels within 12 hours of the class. The money collected for no-shows may not be applied toward a future class.
DDC classes are ongoing. See above for schedule dates.
Dates are still being evaluated for future classes. Check back often to see if a class fits more of your schedule.
