Celebrating Academic Excellence and Achievement
The Office of Presidential Events & Programs (PEP) plans events that celebrate the achievements of UNH students. From Commencement, celebrating new graduates completing their course of study; to Honors Convocation, lauding academic excellence in the senior class; to smaller programs highlighting the talents and work of UNH students, PEP enables the UNH community to join in recognizing student achievement.
Commencement
UNH's Commencement in May is the largest annual event in New Hampshire. An average of 18,000 people including students, families, faculty and friends gather to celebrate graduation.
Honors Convocation
The annual Honors Convocation ceremony celebrates the outstanding academic achievements of UNH's most accomplished seniors at the culmination of their undergraduate experience.
Academic Convocation
PEP collaborates with the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President to coordinate the annual Academic Convocation. The Academic Convocation provides the perfect forum to launch the Discovery Program University Dialogue, a year-long series of discussions on a specific topic; this year it's Energy and next year it will be Democracy. Discovery authors representing a wide range of expertise serve as the panelists for the convocation presenting and debating different perspectives.
Faculty Excellence Dinner
Each year, the University of New Hampshire selects a small number of
its outstanding faculty for special recognition of their achievements
in teaching, scholarship and service. Awards for Excellence in Teaching
are given in each college and school, and University-wide awards
recognize public service, research, teaching and engagement. PEP
collaborates with the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President
to create an evening for the distinguished faculty excellence award
recipients and their families to be honored and recognized by their peers
and presented with the faculty excellence publication featuring their
profiles and attributes for "excellence."
