Building Campus Community

New Faculty Picnic

New faculty members and their families join the president a week before the fall semester begins for a barbecue in the President’s residence garden to meet members of the Board of Trustees and administration and to foster a sense of community.

State of the University Address

The Office of Presidential Events & Programs (PEP) coordinates the annual State of the University address every September for the University president. The address is the president’s opportunity to recap the previous year’s accomplishments and outline the administration's goals for the upcoming year.

University Day Picnic

The campus community, along with the surrounding communities of Durham, Lee and Madbury, are invited in early September to gather on the lawn of Thompson Hall to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year with a picnic and outdoor festivities. The picnic includes the Student Activities Fair that encourages students to get involved in campus life by registering with student organizations. In addition, various UNH departments promote and highlight projects of public interest.

International Community Reception

PEP collaborates with the Office of International Students & Scholars to coordinate this annual fall event that brings together members of UNH’s international community. It is an opportunity to meet members of the administration and learn about the resources available to help their transition to UNH.

Holiday Party

Faculty, staff, families and Durham residents gather in the Whittemore Center Arena each December for a skating party hosted by the University president. The party helps build a sense of community and offers a venue to share the holiday spirit with friends and coworkers. The event also serves as a learning lab for students enrolled in the Hospitality Management Program. Students help in every aspect of event planning, marketing including Web site design and execution.
