Minor Options in the Department of Art and Art History

Five courses and twenty credits are required for all minors with the exception of Architectural Studies which is 5 courses and 18-20 credits. Students must receive a minimum grade of C- in all required courses.
A maximum of two courses (8 credits) may be transferred from another accredited institution, provided UNH has accepted them as transfer credits. Transfer courses must be a minimum of 3 credits. Students with 3 credit transfers must make up the credit shortage.
Current art majors can apply only two courses from the major requirements towards a minor.
To declare an intent to minor, please register with the Department of Art and Art History.

Minor in Art
Requirements: 5 courses from the Department of Art & Art History (any combination of studio art and art history courses can be used); 2 of which must be 500-level or above
Minor in Architectural Studies
Requirements: 5 courses which consist of the following:
- Arts 532 Introductory Drawing
- Arts 574 Architectural History
- 1 of the following: Arts 455 Intro Architecture, Arts 525 Woodworking, or Arts 567 Sculpture
- 2 electives chosen from the following in consultation with program coordinator:

Arts 625 Wood/Furniture Design Workshop
Arts 654 17th/18th C. American Architecture
Arts 655 Early Modern Architecture
Arts 656 Contemporary Architecture
Arts 796G Independent Study in Architecture

Cie 780 Building Information Modeling (3 cr)
Cie 796 Special Topic: Green Building Design (3 cr)

Tech 564 Fundamentals of CAD
Minor in Studio Art
Requirements: 5 studio art courses that consist of the following:
- Arts 532 Intro Drawing
- two 600-level or above studio courses
- two other studio art courses
Minor in Art History
Requirements: 5 art history courses, 4 of which must be 600-level or above
