Safety
The University Police Department is committed to enforcing laws and University policies supporting the rights and dignity of all persons. The department seeks to maintain a campus environment in which learning may thrive. Self-defense courses and crime prevention literature are some of the services it offers. A walking patrol provides an escort service for students, faculty, and staff. Officers, professionally trained in their respective areas, staff both the police and security services units.

In addition, emergency call boxes are located in key locations across campus, providing a direct line to the 24-hour emergency dispatch center.

In compliance with the Campus Security Act of 1990, the University provides online information about its safety and security policies and crime statistics: www.unh.edu/vpsas.

Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention
The UNH Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention Program (SHARPP) offers intervention and prevention services around all forms of sexual violence, including date violence, sexual assault, and harassment. In addition to providing confidential crisis intervention and other advocacy services on a 24-hour basis, SHARPP conducts educational programs for fraternities, sororities, athletic teams, residence halls, student organizations, and academic classes.
