Spring 2010 Grant Awards

This year the Parents Association decided to make our grant program exclusively student oriented. This spring a total of $18,592.00 was awarded to student groups! Below are the student groups and their projects which were awarded funding.

$2,010.00 Awarded to the UNH Society of Automotive Engineers Aero Design Team. The Aero Design Team has entered this years global SAE Aero Competition in which they must design, manufacture and fly a remote controlled aircraft against students from universities around the world. The award supplements significant fundraising which the students have raised to compete in this challenge.

$4,000 Awarded to the New Hampshire Outing Club, one of the oldest and largest independent student organizations on the UNH campus, for renovations to their Franconia Notch Cabin. The planned renovations will insure that the cabin is in good condition for future generations of UNH students and NHOC Alumni.

$611.00 Awarded to the Hubbard Hall Council. The requested funds will be used to purchase a new ping-pong table to enhance their recreation lounge and Kitchen appliances to enable the Hall to host more social and charitable fundraising events.

$1,462.00 Awarded to the Cornucopia Food Pantry of the United Campus Ministry at the Ways Meet Center. The funds will be used to create a community garden aimed at creating a fresh supplemental food source for the food pantry. The requested seed money to start the garden will also assist in building community.

$1,500.00 Awarded to the UNH Model United Nations student group to fund 12 student delegates to attend the spring conference to represent the country of Somalia in a United Nations simulation. This funding supplements the groups own significant fundraising efforts for their expenses.

$3.958.00 Awarded to the UNH student run, SCAN-TV to purchase a cinema accessory set for SCAN-TV’s new Canon camera. The accessory set will enhance SCAN-TV production services and significantly expand hands on TV and movie production opportunities that is offered to UNH students.

$4,000.00 Awarded to multiple Intramural Sport clubs that utilize the second floor gymnasium at Campus Recreation. The funds will be used to purchase and install a wall mounted electronic scoreboard. This funding supplements a package of 2 other scoreboards being purchased for the other gyms at Campus Recreation.

$1,050.00 Awarded to the UNH Synchronized Skating Team to assist them in funding their “National Send Off Show” at the Whittemore Center Arena. The entire student body is invited to attend this on campus show. This funding supplements the groups own significant fundraising efforts for their yearly expenses.
