Sharepoint Training Available May 19

By now you have probably heard of Microsoft Sharepoint, a high-effectively document management program that is available to all UNH faculty and staff. When asked: Do you use Sharepoint? And if not, why? For those unfamiliar with Sharepoint, the answer has been they are not aware of its functionality, don’t know how to use it, or both. To remedy this, UNH IT is offering training classes through May 2012 to demonstrate how you can use Sharepoint in your office.

Sharepoint streamlines collaboration and communication, and allows departments to create, edit, share, approve, track, and centrally-manage documents, all with an easy-to-use web-based interface that is available from anywhere with an Internet connection. Gone are the days of emailing documents, waiting for others to close a document before you can work on it, or searching through endless folders on file shares trying to locate a document. With Sharepoint, you can enjoy an environment that is well-organized, easily accessible, and ultra-secure, and completely searchable.

Many departments are already using Sharepoint. It is currently the central document management system being used for UNH’s decennial accreditation process with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Sharepoint training is available on Friday, May 19 from 9-11a.m. at the IT training center, located at One Leavitt Lane. To register, visit ittraining.unh.edu, login with your UNH username and password, and click on ‘sessions.’
