From Signals: University Identifier Policy and How to Access IT Resources
In an age of increasing identity theft, UNH responded by creating the University Identifier Policy to protect the privacy and personally identifiable information (PII) of its students, faculty, and staff.
The University Identifier Policy details how to protect personal information “by minimizing the use of social security numbers (SSNs) as the primary means of identification, by limiting access to and visibility of the SSN when the use of SSNs is necessary, providing guidance for handling the non-SSN university identifier and establishing protection requirements for other legally protected personally identifiable information.”
To view the entire policy, go to it.unh.edu/uip. For questions, contact the UNH IT Service Desk at 2-4242 or submit a question online.
