You know that when you go to the gym to work out, you feel good. But did you know that benefits-eligible employees can get up to $500 of their membership at participating health clubs paid through the Harvard Pilgrim’s Wellness Connection program? Kind of makes feeling good feel great, doesn’t it?
All you have to do is hit the gym at least eight times a month. That’s twice a week. Doable when you think of the double benefits. You don’t even see a bill; HP pays the health club directly. And, the benefit is transferable to family members who are covered under Harvard Pilgrim.
In addition to the fitness membership, the Wellness Connection program will reimburse you up to $200 (per individual or family) a year for taking approved health education classes. These can be classes in such areas as stress management, weight loss, nutrition, first aid, parenting, and quitting smoking. Or you can take exercises classes like yoga or karate or pilates. A list of approved classes can be found at http://www.usnhwellnessconnection.com/HealthEducationCourses.pdf.
Another incentive program offered through Wellness Connection is free membership to Diet.com, which provides access to health experts, personalized meal plans, easy to follow fitness videos, thousands of recipes, health tips and community support that includes blogs and message boards.
And don’t forget the prizes you can earn for exercising regularly. Just record your exercise online and select a prize. You’ll receive it within 4-6 weeks of submitting your activity card. Then, start another log to earn prizes at the next level.
All you have to do to take advantage of any of these Wellness Connection programs is go to www.hphc.org/usnh to set up an online account. You will be able to access information about the program including a list of participating health clubs and approved health education classes.
If you don’t see the health club or class that you want to attend, contact Human Resources benefits representatives Sue Nolan, 2-0504 or Kristie Camacho, 2-0509 and a request to add them to the list will be forwarded to Harvard Pilgrim.
