Joanna Young, chief information officer, will serve as interim assistant vice president for finance with the departure of David Proulx who will be leaving UNH in November.

For the last nine months, Proulx also has acted as interim associate vice president of human resources and chief human resource officer. That role will be filled by Sari Bennett, university operations HR partner.

“Serving as the AVP will give me the opportunity to see the university with new eyes,” Bennett says. “Initially, I will have a lot of listening to do. As Wilson Mizner wrote, ‘“A good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while he knows something.”’

Bennett came to UNH in 2007 after 20 years at Dartmouth College where she held a number of senior roles including manager of human resources systems and communications, and manager of benefits.

Young, a graduate of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, joined UNH in May 2009. Previously she was the chief information officer responsible for corporate IT at Liberty Mutual Group.

She will retain her CIO role leading UNH IT. In addition she will build up UNH’s project management, management reporting and analytics capacity, assuring there is a support team to help all units implement the UNH strategic plan.

“I am looking forward to be increasing my contribution to the university by taking on the additional responsibilities AVP for finance. These are financially challenging times; we need to work together with alacrity to find and implement innovative and pragmatic ways to improve our sustainability – all the time moving forward with UNH’s Strategic Plan,” Young says.

Young encourages people to contact her at unh.it@unh.edu or follow her on Twitter @unhcio.
