UNH Research Leveraging Initiative Awards Made to Eight Interdisciplinary Teams

The Provost’s Research Leveraging Initiative (RLI) provides start-up funding for promising research projects that address problems of critical importance and contribute to the intellectual vitality of the institution. Through UNH’s New Ventures Fund, support is intended for groups of faculty to organize around an innovative theme in preparation for submission of a major competitive external proposal. Designed to enhance research, scholarship, and extramural funding at UNH, RLI awards support faculty release time, graduate students, travel, and other activities necessary to advance proposals to federal agencies and large private foundations.
Recently, RLI awards were made to eight visionary UNH projects (from 14 pre-proposals) that build on existing strengths and infrastructure; involve community, business, and/or academic partners; and employ teams of UNH tenure-track and research faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and staff. Awardee teams are expected to submit full external proposals within 18-24 months of receiving RLI funds.
