UNH Mourns Death of Student; Announces Community Gathering for Affected Students Tonight

University officials received confirmation early Wednesday morning, March 2, 2011, that UNH student Nathaniel Bresler had committed suicide by laying down in front of a moving train shortly after midnight March 1. Bresler, of Bow, N.H., transferred to UNH this semester as a political science major.
The UNH Counseling Center will host a gathering Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 8 p.m. in room 336 of the MUB. Anyone in the campus community who has been touched by this student death is encouraged to attend. In addition, UNH counseling staff is available to students who want to speak with someone one-on-one. The UNH Counseling Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week, and 24-hour help is available to anyone by calling 2-2090.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Nathaniel,” said UNH President Mark W. Huddleston. “The entire community extends its condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy and we urge any member of our community in need of support to reach out for help.”
