UNH Finalist For Award Recognizing Flexible Workplace

UNH has been selected as a finalist for the Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, a prestigious award recognizing employers in the greater New Hampshire area that successfully use workplace flexibility to meet both organizational and employee goals.
Applicants were measured against data from a nationally representative sample of employers and had to score in the top 20 percent for flexible work programs and policies and for the supportiveness of the workplace culture. The UNH Women’s Commission suggested UNH apply for the award.
“We are both excited and proud to have reached this level,” said David Proulx, interim assistant vice president of UNH Human Relations.
As the final step in the application process, a random sample of employees will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire about their access to flexibility programs and their individual perception of UNH’s workplace cultural supports for flexible work.
Employees who are selected as part of the sample will receive instructions by e-mail or mail on how to complete the questionnaire from the Families and Work Institute, an independent research organization that specializes in workplace and workforce issues. If by e-mail, the e-mail will come from firstname.lastname@example.org and the subject line will read: Survey Instructions for Alfred P. Sloan Award application. If by mail, employees will receive a paper copy of the questionnaire with a stamped, return-address envelope.
Employees are asked to complete the survey as soon as possible to ensure that UNH meets the response requirements for its application and so that their appraisal is reflected in the overall score. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete.
The entire process is confidential. No one at UNH will see the names of employees who complete the survey; nor will it be possible to identify any individuals from the survey results.
