Simic's Work Honored with Literature Prize

Charles Simic, professor emeritus, is the recipient of the 2011 Vilcek Prize in Literature, one of the annual prizes awarded by the Vilcek Foundation, for his distinguished body of work as a poet, essayist, and translator.
The Vilcek Foundation honors the contributions of immigrants to the sciences, arts, and culture in the United States.
Simic was recently named the 2011 recipient of the Poetry Society of America’s Robert Frost Medal.
