Losing your phone or tablet can be unnerving; the replacement cost alone is enough to keep you up at night. But what about all of the data on the device? What happens if the person who finds your device is less than honest?

Thankfully, if your iOS device (iPad, iPhone, or iTouch) is connected to Exchange, there is a simple way to wipe all data, apps, music, and photos from the device. Caution: this process will completely erase all information on your iOS device so, unless you are completely certain you have lost your device, you might want to check under the couch cushions one last time before proceeding.

  1. Go to exchange.unh.edu.
  2. Sign in using your AD username and password.
  3. Go to Options and click on See All Options.
  4. In the left-hand menu, click on Phone.
  5. Highlight the device you would like to wipe in the list of devices and choose Wipe Device.

Again, these steps will remove all information from your device. If the same device tries to access your Exchange account again, Exchange will continue to wipe the device.

If you find your device and wish to use Exchange again, you should follow these steps before trying to reconnect to Exchange. If you have a restore point which includes your Exchange account, make sure to follow these steps before restoring your device.

  1. Go to exchange.unh.edu.
  2. Sign in using your AD username and password.
  3. Go to Options and click on See All Options.
  4. In the left-hand menu, click on Phone.
  5. Highlight the device you previously wiped and hit ‘X’ to delete it before trying to reconnect. If you do not complete these steps, it will continually wipe the device.
