Carsey Institute Researcher Receives Excellence Award

Kenneth M. Johnson, professor of sociology, has received the Excellence in Research Award from the Rural Sociological Society, a professional social science association that promotes the generation, application, and dissemination of sociological knowledge. The Society seeks to enhance the quality of rural life, communities, and the environment.
The Excellence in Research Award recognizes an RSS member who has made outstanding contributions to rural-oriented research and/or theory.
Johnson, a senior demographer at the Carsey Institute, is a nationally recognized expert on demographic trends in rural and urban America. His research examines national and regional population redistribution trends, demographic trends in recreational areas, the impact of immigration, and the relationship between demographic and environmental change.
