Single Stream Recycling is Coming to UNH!

Facilities Operations and Maintenance along with representatives from the Office of Sustainability, Housing, Residential Life, Facilities Design and Construction and Waste Management will implement a trial single stream recycling initiative Aug. 15-Dec.15, 2011.
Single stream recycling allows plastics, aluminum, cardboard and paper to be co-mingled for collection and removal from campus. Sorting will take place off site. A review will take place after the trial to see if the practice will be instituted across the entire campus.

Container Preparation
- Remove all plastic bags
- Remove any non-acceptable items
- Flatten containers whenever possible
- Cardboard should be broken down to fit inside the container without jamming and will empty completely
- All containers (jars, bottles, cartons, etc.) must be rinsed and free of all contaminants
- Remove and discard all corks, tops, rings, metal bottleneck wraps, and unacceptable items
