Nominations being Accepted for UNH Pat Council Representative to SPPC

April 27, 2011

On May 4, 2011 the UNH PAT Council will be voting to appoint the UNH PAT representative to the Systems Personnel and Policy Committee (SPPC).  Anyone interested in this position may contact Kevin Ducharme (kevin.ducharme@unh.edu ), chairman of the PAT Council nominations committee, by Wednesday, April 27.

Include a brief statement including your qualifications and interest in the position.  These statements will be shared with the PAT Council to aid in decision-making.  The PAT Council will also reserve time at its May 4 meeting to hear statements in person from those individuals who have submitted a written statement by April 27.  Let Ducharme know if you are interested in making an in-person statement. The current UNH SPPC representative, Tracy Boyle, will not be seeking reappointment due to anticipated increases in her workload and schedule constraints.

The PAT Council meets Wednesday May 4, 1:15-3:15 p.m. in MUB 338.

Position Description:
Download the description of the SPPC rep duties.  In general, the SPPC meets every other month, September to May in Concord, but in recent times the meetings have been more frequent.  Mileage is reimbursed, though carpooling is encouraged.  The SPPC representative and alternate attend the SPPC meetings and the monthly meetings of the UNH PAT Council.  Other meetings come up as needed.  For example, there has been a lot of activity this spring related to the pending changes in the benefits package.

Eligibility:
Any UNH PAT staff member is eligible (from Durham or Manchester campuses).

Term of Service:
The two-year term runs Sept. 2011-August 2013.  The incoming UNH SPPC representative will be encouraged to attend the May 19 SPPC meeting to facilitate the transition.  The term of the UNH PAT alternate representative, Tammy McGlone, continues for another year.

Nominations:
You may nominate yourself or someone else. All nominees must agree to be on the ballot and submit a nomination statement by April 27.

In short, being the SPPC representative is a significant time commitment with significant responsibility to deliberate on behalf of the UNH PAT staff and act as a liaison between the SPPC and UNH PAT.
