Get Ready to Green Your Commute
April 27, 2011
With the snow finally gone and green returning to New Hampshire’s landscape, now’s the perfect time to consider leaving the car at home for a greener commute. Join UNH and Durham community members on Friday, May 20, when the department of kinesiology will host a free commuter breakfast at the wildcat statue. May is National Bike Month, and the 5th annual Seacoast Commute Challenge –won by UNH last year – is May 16 – 20. That week coincides with a statewide Commute Green NH Challenge.
Members of the UNH community can help make these events successful in a variety of ways:
-Commute green! Commit to incorporating bicycling, walking, carpooling, or Wildcat Transit into your commute for some or all of the week.
-Tell us about it. Help UNH retain its Corporate Challenge championship by logging your alternative commuting trips and mileage at the Bike/Walk to Work Day breakfast May 20.
-Help us out. To help with the Bike/Walk to Work Day breakfast, contact Brent Bell at bbell@unh.edu. Coffee-and-bagel schleppers and servers, information distributors, and ride leaders (from Portsmouth, Dover, Newmarket and Lee) are needed.
-Learn more. More information about the statewide Commute Green NH Challenge is at www.commutegreennh.org. More about Seacoast-area Bike/Walk to Work events is at http://www.seacoastbikes.org.
