Seasonal Flu Clinics for Employees Scheduled for October
September 15, 2010
The Office of Human Resources, in collaboration with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, is offering seasonal flu vaccinations for faculty, staff and their dependents (age 4 and over) Oct. 7, 13 and 26, 2010, during the following times and at the following locations:
Thursday, Oct. 7: 5:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. MUB Room 338/340
Wednesday, Oct. 13: 11a.m. - 5 p.m. MUB Room 338/340
Tuesday, Oct. 26**: 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. MUB Rockingham Lounge
**The UNH Benefits/Services Fair will be held the same day and time.
A flu shot provides the best protection against the seasonal flu. Additional safeguards include frequent hand washing, covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing and sneezing, and avoiding the spread of germs by not touching your mouth, eyes and nose.
The flu clinics have been scheduled before and after work and during lunch periods to give employees flexibility and to minimize the amount of time missed from work. Although release time is granted at the discretion of managers and supervisors for university-sponsored events, holding the clinics at alternative times presents the opportunity for as many employees as possible to get immunized.
Getting a flu shot supports a healthy UNH community.
At the clinic, employees will receive a consent form with information about the vaccine prior to receiving the shot. Anyone under 18 will need a parent's signature. The 2010-2011 flu vaccine protects against three different flu viruses: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season. Harvard Pilgrim is partnering with vendor Maxim Health to provide these clinics for Harvard Pilgrim and non-Harvard Pilgrim subscribers.
There will be no out-of-pocket cost to UNH Harvard Pilgrim subscribers who present a UNH Harvard Pilgrim ID. Dependents must have current IDs as well. The cost of the vaccination will be processed directly via claims. The cost for non-Harvard Pilgrim subscribers is $25 (cash or check made out to Maxim Health), payable at the time of vaccination.
Advanced registration is not required.
If this will be your first time receiving a seasonal flu vaccine, please allow a 20-minute wait time after being vaccinated.
