Kaye Receives Fulbright to Study in Israel

David Kaye, associate professor of theatre and dance and director of acting and directing, has received a Fulbright award to spend six months in Israel working with students at Ben Gurion University of the Negev and the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies.
At Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Kaye will teach two courses related to theatre and engagement. At the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, he will work with students and faculty to conduct workshops and research in the area of culture and sustainability. The Arava Institute brings together Palestinians, Jordanians and Israelis over the pressing environmental issues that deeply affect all the people of the region. In addition, he will work on a one-person play based on the people there and their experiences that he hopes to perform for Islamic and Jewish institutions in the United States and organizations interested in sustainability and peacemaking. His studies abroad also include working with a Palestinian youth theatre group in the West Bank, and conducting workshops at the University of Cairo.
