A recent inspection by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration of the university’s hazardous materials and waste shipping/transportation programs found no violations of U.S. DOT regulations.
The federal inspector reviewed programs, documentation procedures, security plans and shipping papers. Members of the UNH Environmental Health and Safety Office met with the inspector and oversaw the review. The surprise inspection didn’t uncover any problems.
This inspection highlights the importance of following UNH’s established hazardous material shipping programs. This is the third federal inspection of UNH hazardous material shipping programs in seven years.
