University Day Picnic and Academic Convocation Draw Crowds

There were lots of burgers and dogs served up at the annual University Day picnic Tuesday while throngs of people checked out the information booths of various organizations, listened to great music and mingled with friends. Kids romped in the castle bouncy house, threw footballs and tried their hand at hula-hoop while faculty, staff and students learned about green jobs, healthy eating, the juggling club and more. Also on Tuesday, about a hundred people attended the Academic Convocation where University Professor and Provost John Aber introduced special guest New Hampshire’s first lady Dr. Susan Lynch, and the 2009-2010 Discovery Authors.

The Academic Convocation officially launches the University Dialogue, a yearlong series of events and conversations based on a specific topic. This year’s is titled “Taking care of self and community; a university dialogue on health.”
