Professor Awarded Grant
September 16, 2009
Education Professor Paula Salvio, in collaboration with Bronwen Low, McGill University, and Chloe Brushwood-Rose, York University, has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Canadian Social Science and Humanities Research Council.
The three-year project studies the pedagogical methods used in community-based media production in three major North American urban centers. The select centers are committed to documenting the stories of immigrants and minority men and women who are often socially, economically, and physically marginalized by systemic racism, poverty, forced migration, and the impacts of globalization. Salvio will conduct her research in partnership with the Center for Urban Pedagogy in Brooklyn, New York.
