September 9, 2009

University Day Picnic

University Day begins Tuesday, Sept. 15, with the annual Academic Convocation at 7:30 a.m. in the MUB’s Granite State Room and features Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, John Aber, special guest Dr. Susan Lynch, New Hampshire’s first lady, and the 2009-2010 Discovery Authors. Click here to register for the Academic Convocation.

This year’s topic on health will highlight the United States as a wealthy nation struggling with health care policies that are not working and rising health care costs that continue to increase despite no measurable advantages.

Lynch will enrich the discussion with a diverse background and interest in health-related issues.  She is especially concerned with childhood obesity and preventative healthcare for children and serves as the spokesperson for the physical activity program “Walk NH.”

The Academic Convocation officially launches the University Dialogue titled “Taking care of self and community; a university dialogue on health.” The University Dialogue is a yearlong series of events and conversations based on a specific topic.
