Reward Offered in UNH Halloween Assault

November 25, 2009

Anonymous donors have contributed $2,000 to a reward fund for information that leads to an arrest in the assault of a male UNH student outside Sawyer Hall on the Ballard Street side at approximately 11:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009. Anyone who may have witnessed the assault or have information is urged to call 2-1427.

The attack occurred between Sawyer and Stoke halls on a grassy area off Ballard Street. No weapons were used; police believe the victim was kicked and punched repeatedly by as many as five assailants.

“Thanks to the generosity of several people who wish to remain anonymous the university is able to offer a reward of $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case,” said Deputy Police Chief Paul Dean. “The community is coming together to bring resolution to this violent assault and to say it will not tolerate this kind of behavior. If you know anything please step up and make a call.”

Anyone with information about this incident should contact police at 2-1427. Anonymous reports can also be made at http://www.unh.edu/upd/Contact-Us.html.

Anyone interested in contributing to the reward fund can contact Nancy Hamer, director of administrative/financial services, at 2-1934 or nancy.hamer@unh.edu
