Donations Sought for Food Basket Drive
November 4, 2009
Once again the community leadership program at the Thompson School is partnering with the Cornucopia Food Pantry and the Office of Community Service and Learning to collect Thanksgiving food baskets.
Three times a year--at Thanksgiving, before the winter break, and in the spring--the food pantry distributes food baskets to members of the UNH community in need. Recipients include staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students who live off-campus. Many of those who receive baskets are parents or heads of households struggling to make ends meet.
The Cornucopia Food Pantry has been distributing holiday food baskets for 10 years, and every year the need has gotten greater; this year Cornucopia expects to distribute 160 baskets at Thanksgiving alone.
Many campus offices, departments, student organizations, dormitories and individuals have already pledged their support. However, more help is needed.
If you’d like to create a basket or donate to one, contact Lisa Ciccotelli at the Office of Community Service and Learning, 2-0079 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cornucopia also accepts gift certificates, as well as cash donations, which are tax deductible. Checks can be made out to the Cornucopia Food Pantry or the United Campus Ministry.
