Open Enrollment Ends Nov. 6
November 4, 2009
Benefits open enrollment continues through Friday, Nov. 6. For those who don’t enroll by the Nov. 6 deadline, their core benefits will remain the same for 2010 with the exception of the flexible spending account; if you were enrolled in a 2009 flexible spending account (FSA) and want a 2010 FSA you must re-enroll online during open enrollment. FSA's do not automatically rollover year to year.
The tax-free $500 health reimbursement account (HRA) will continue in 2010 for eligible employees and will be funded in January. The HRA is an employer-funded account, administered by WageWorks, that reimburses employees for qualified health care expenses similar to a flexible spending account except that if you do not use the entire $500 in 2010, it will rollover to the next year. It also can be used to pay for eligible dependent's health care expenses.
WageWorks Enhancements for 2010: Employees will now have the ability to submit claims via the web. And if you re-enroll in a healthcare FSA for 2010 you will have the ability to use the debit card to continue to access your 2009 funds until March 15, 2010.
Using the claim form will no longer be necessary during this time period. The debit card will continue to draw on the 2009 funds until the funds are exhausted or March 15. It will then begin to draw on 2010 funds. For more information on the WageWorks enhancements go to http://usnh.edu/hr/benefits/2010-openenrollment/
