Minimum Usage Leave Time Will be Automatically Recorded as of July 1, 2009
By Jody Record, Campus Journal Editor
June 24, 2009
While the policy that requires employees to take a minimum number of days off each year is not changing, the manner in which the data is tracked will, starting July 1, 2009.
USNH requires all staff members to take a minimum number of vacation, personal or earned leave time days annually. As in the past, if the requirement isn’t met by June 30, the unused days/hours are subtracted from the employee’s leave record.
Beginning with the new fiscal year, the minimum usage calculations will be done automatically. What’s more, OS workers—the only employees the change effects—will have to use just slightly less time than was previously required.
Full-time PAT, AA, EE and fiscal year faculty members have to use the minimum 12 days a year. That’s not changing.
Currently, full-time OS employees have to use from 12 to 18 days of earned time a year, based on the number of years of employment. Beginning July 1, the range goes to from 10.81 to 17.5 days a year (based on the number of years of employment) whether they work a 37.5 or 40 hour week.
The minimum annual hour requirement is based on a 37.5 or 40 hour week.
The maximum number of earned time days that can be accrued annually ranges from 24 to 39 days for full-time staff, again, based on the number of years of employment. As with the minimum usage, the maximum recorded in hours differs slightly depending on the total number of hours worked weekly.
For operating staff who have time managed through FAMIS, Kronos, or are part of the Web-time entry pilot program, this information will be available via https://wise.unh.edu/. For other employees, the leave recording forms on HR web site are being adjusted to reflect the new minimum usage calculation. http://www.unh.edu/hr/pubs-frm.htm#time
