A ceremony was held on Dec. 23, 2008 to celebrate the restoration of James Hall, home to the departments of natural resources and earth sciences. The $25.5 million project is the first at UNH to seek LEED certification.

During the ceremony, a live tree was placed on a beam and is still there. According to project manager Brenda Whitmore, a cut tree is typically used but because this is a green project, they wanted to use a live tree that could be replanted in the spring.

Restoration of the College Road building will result in a new 14,000-square-foot addition that will increase the square footage from about 60,000 to about 75,000.
