This year marks two important dates for the Dimond Library: built in 1958, this is the 50th anniversary. It’s also been 10 years since the building was completely renovated. The ‘birthday year’ will be celebrated throughout the year starting with the New Hampshire Authors Series.
Mystery and outdoor writer William Tapply will launch the popular series on Oct. 19 followed by Sy Montgomery on Jan. 25 and Marie Harris on April 26. Montgomery has been called “part Indiana Jones and part Emily Dickinson” and travels around the world to research her books. Harris was New Hampshire Poet Laureate from 1999 to 2004 and is the author of four books of poetry.
The birthday celebration continues on Nov. 14 when the library co-hosts a symposium on the vocal works of New Hampshire composer Amy Cheney Beach. This will coincide with professor David Ripley’s production of Beach’s one-act opera “The Cabildo.”
Look for exciting changes and increased services throughout the year.
