The Friends of the Library at UNH will host the second event in the 2008-2009 N.H. Authors' Series with the appearance of humorist and author Sy Montgomery, Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the 5th floor reading room of the Dimond Library.

Montgomery is the author of numerous children’s books, including the award-winning “The Snake Scientist.” Her travels have taken her around the globe to remote places where she does research for her books, films and articles. Montgomery is also a widely-known lecturer on conservation topics.

Her latest book, for adults, takes her closer to home in rural NH. “The Good Good Pig: The Extraordinary Life of Christopher Hogwood”became a national bestseller in 2006.

“The Good Good Pig” is the story of the sickly pig that Montgomery adopted as a pet that grew to 750 pounds. Named for a symphony conductor, Christopher Hogwood became known for his escapades by Montgomery’s neighbors.

Sponsored by the Dimond Library, the N.H. Authors' Series is held three times a year, offering one-on-one conversations with authors who have ties to the Granite State. Yankee humorist Rebecca Rule serves as host and interviewer.

Interviews are conducted in front of a live audience (with an opportunity for questions from the audience) and recorded by New Hampshire Public Television for future broadcast.

New Hampshire poet Marie Harris will close out the series in April.

The program is free and open to all, but seating is limited. The presentation is funded by the Drs. Lorus J. and Margery Milne Endowed Lecture Series on Literature and Environment.
