'2008 Investment Forum: What Lies Ahead in 2009' Dec. 12

UNH will hold “2008 Investment Forum: What Lies Ahead in 2009” Friday, Dec. 12, 2008.

Hosted by the Whittemore School of Business and Economics and the UNH Atkins Investment Center, the three-hour forum begins at 9 a.m. in Holloway Commons, Squamscott Room. It is free and open to the public. The schedule for the forum is as follows:

9:00-9:10 a.m.        Welcome
Ahmad Etebari, chair, UNH Accounting and Finance Department
Daniel Innis, dean, Whittemore School of Business and Economics

9:10-9:40 a.m.        How to Think about Investing in the Current Economic Environment
Morgan Rutman, ’84, founder and past president, Harvest Capital

9:40-10 a.m.           Making Money and Having Fun
Peter Paul, ’67, CEO, Headlands Asset Management

10-10:20 a.m.         Challenges for State and Local Government
Catherine Provencher, treasurer, State of New Hampshire

10:20-10:35 a.m.    Refreshment Break

10:35-11 a.m.         Forecasts by Faculty
Brain Bolton, assistant professor of finance: Governance Regulation
Steve Ciccone, associate professor of finance: Investing During a Recession
William Johnson, assistant professor of accounting and finance: Federal Loans and Financial Performances
                             
11 a.m.-noon:         Stock Analysis Competition: Healthcare and Consumer Staples
The top two student teams from the Atkins Investment Group will present their stock analysis and recommendations before the panel of expert judges.
