The UNH Parents Association has awarded a $40,000 grant to the university’s
Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) Planning Committee. This grant will
be used over a two-year period to increase student support, implement targeted
outreach and marketing efforts, and provide funding for a nationally known
speaker for the 2009 conference.
This support, while aimed at increasing participation during the entire weeklong
event, will be focused on the Parents Association Undergraduate Research Symposium,
which will be held this year on Friday, April 25. Students from business administration,
communications, international affairs, history, political science, psychology,
social work, sociology, and women’s studies will present their faculty-mentored
scholarship to their fellow students, faculty and the general public.
“The Undergraduate Research Conference is a unique opportunity for UNH
students,” said Chet Pliska, president of the Parents Association. “We
are pleased to be able to collaborate with the planning committee to continue
to encourage and support students with their educational goals by helping to
provide professional presentation experiences which highlight their work at
UNH, as well as promoting this event within the university, and to the general
public.”
Funding for the conference was awarded through the Parents Association Grant
Program, which provides enhancement funding for student, faculty, and administrative
projects. UNH Parents Association funding comes from parents of undergraduates,
supporting students, and connecting parents to the university. For more information
