Whittemore School Mourns Loss of Professor Kaufman

Allen M. Kaufman, 60, a professor of business, government and society
at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics where he held the Hubbard
Chair of Strategic Management, died Tuesday, Sept. 4 at home in Portsmouth.
Kaufman published several books on business/government relations, including "Managers
vs. Owners," which appeared as part of the Oxford University Press
series on Business Ethics.
He also published numerous articles in diverse journals including the
Sloan Management Review, the California Management Review, Business History
Review, and the Journal of Policy History. He helped improve the DVD collection
at the Portsmouth Public Library, which he enjoyed very much.
Born in Pittsburgh, and a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School and
the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he received his Ph.D. in U.S. history
from Rutgers University and his master’s in business/government relations
from the Sloan School and the Political Science Departments at MIT.
