Drought Watch Requires Water-saving Measures
October 3, 2007
Due to the lack of rain, a drought watch issued at the end of August still
remains in effect. It will take several soaking rains over the period of
a few weeks before the watch can be lifted. As a result of these drought
conditions, the UNH/Durham Water Supply is urging the university community
to conserve water.
Conservation measures include:
Fixing leaky pipes, faucets, and toilets: call Maintenance Control at
2-1437 to report leaks.
Run the dishwasher only where it’s full; same for the washing machine.
Take shorter showers.
Shut the water off while brushing your teeth.
Don’t leave faucets running when not needed.
Use automatic car washes.
Put a bottle of water in the refrigerator instead of running the water
until it gets cold.
