Commencement Thank You
May 23, 2007
To the Campus Community,
I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered and who helped Presidential
Events and Programs as part of their normal responsibilities execute the
biggest and probably most historic Commencement and Honors Convocation
in our history. We had the help of more than 150 volunteers from every
corner of the campus who pitched in and worked hard – despite temperatures
in the 40s and the ever-present threat of rain.
We could not have done it without all of you who gave up a Friday afternoon
and Saturday to help UNH. From the incredible public safety organizers
like UNH Deputy Police Chief Paul Dean and Durham Deputy Police Chief
Rene Kelley, to the facilities staff who set up the stage, chairs and
plywood on the field, to audiovisual services who provided light and sound
to the stage, to housekeeping staff who were on the field at dawn helping
us wipe off chairs and distribute programs, to photo services who captured
the energy on and off the field, and to hospitality services who kept
hot coffee flowing, you all made UNH shine for the 2,900 graduates and
their families.
While it was an honor to host two former U.S. Presidents, I must say
the greatest honor is working with all of you. Those of us in University
Communications and Marketing, and particularly in Presidential Events
and Programs, will never forget Commencement 2007 and the support we had
from all of you – we couldn’t have done it otherwise. This
was teamwork at its finest. Thank you again for your commitment and dedication
to UNH.
Have a great summer,
Jen
