Donations Sought for "Hidden Treasures!" Auction
May 23, 2007
Donations are being sought for a special fundraising auction to benefit
The Art Gallery at the Paul Creative Arts Center, the Seacoast's premier
art museum where visitors gather to enjoy changing exhibitions, music,
lectures, poetry readings, and receptions.
The Hidden Treasures auction will offer paintings, prints, drawings,
ceramics, and photographs, as well as jewelry, textiles, glass, and collectibles
made by many local artists, including, among others, Jennifer Benn, Tim
Christensen-Kirby, Christopher Cook, Eve Corey, Arthur DiMambro, Jane
Kaufmann, Scott Schnepf, and Valerie Sobel.
The auction will take place Saturday, June 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the
gallery. Advance reservations are recommended ($35 per person or $60 per
couple) and may be made online at www.unh.edu/art-gallery or by calling
2-3712.
Items sought include original works of art, photographs, glass, jewelry,
small furniture items, textiles, and collectibles in good condition. Donations
are tax deductible, although donors are responsible for securing the estimated
value of each item, as The Art Gallery cannot provide appraisals. Items
not sold will be returned.
Devin Moisan of Devin Moisan Auctioneers, Inc., in Dover, will be the
guest auctioneer. His gallery is open most Thursdays to provide free
verbal valuations. For more information, call Moisan Auctioneer’s
at (603) 953-0022 or visit www.moisan-inc.com.
Hidden Treasures is organized by members of The Art Gallery's board of
advisors and volunteers. Its permanent collection includes 1,500 historical
and modern works by American and European artists. The museum welcomes
visitors throughout the academic year and is open to students, faculty,
members, and the general public free of charge.
To donate items contact Cindy Farrell at 2-3712, or by e-mail at art.gallery@unh.edu,
no later than June 8. For more information, visit www.unh.edu/art-gallery.
