Who's Who

June 6, 2007

Fred Metting, associate professor of English at UNH Manchester, has been honored by being listed in the 11th edition of Who's Who Among American Teachers and Educators.

Additionally, Metting's book, “The Life and Music of the American Folk Artist Doc Watson” (Edwin Mellen Press) was nominated for an award in the "best research in recorded folk, ethnic, or world music" category by the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC).

Since 1991 ARSC has recognized authors and publishers of books, articles, liner notes, and monographs for their published research in the field of recorded sound.

Metting, a Concord resident, teaches courses in American literature, American nature writers, literary folklore, and American music. His previously published book was on the American musicians Rye Coder and Tajo Mahan.
