UNH’s Celebrity Series will present the Martha Graham Dance Company
Monday, March 5, at 8 p.m., in the Paul Creative Arts Center’s Johnson
Founded in 1926, The Martha Graham Dance Company is the oldest and most
celebrated contemporary dance company in America. Since its inception,
the Company has received international acclaim from audiences in over 50
countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and
the Middle East.
Martha Graham is recognized as a primal artistic force of the 20th century.
She created 181 ballets and a dance technique that has been compared to
ballet in its scope and magnitude. Her approach to dance and theater revolutionized
the art form and her innovative physical vocabulary has influenced dance
worldwide. Though Martha Graham herself is the best-known alumna of her
company, having danced from the Company's inception until the late 1960's,
the Company has provided a training ground for some of modern dance's most
illustrious performers and choreographers.
Tickets, priced at $50 general admission and $20 for youth, are available
by calling the MUB box office at 2-2290, Monday–Friday, between 10
a.m. and 4 p.m. or online at www.unh.edu/celebrity.
