Photo Gallery: Red-tailed Hawk
February 21, 2007
Mark Rubinstein, vice president for student and academic services, thought someone was watching him as he approached Thompson Hall the other morning. Sure enough, a Buteo jamaicensis, commonly known as a red-tailed hawk, was sitting atop a copper perch over the T-Hall portico. The hawk has spent much of the winter in this area, but his presence is more evidenced by the crows mobbing the tall spruce between T Hall and Hamilton Smith. Rubinstein, campus photographer extraordinaire, was able to capture the buteo on film before starting his day.
